DATELINE MONDAY 24TH OCTOBER 2022

Good morning on this very autumnal Monday morning, a calm morning compared to Sunday, I hope you are well. Talking of yesterday I hope you managed to stay dry by dodging the heavy rain. We are well and truly in the grips of Autumn although it has been quite warm so whilst the heating has been on the thermostat is on very low so it really hasn’t kicked in just yet long may that continue, although I am one of the smug ones who energy price is fixed till 31st March 2023

Busy few weeks ahead, today marks the first day of Diwali the Hindu, Sikhs, Buddhists festival of lights, we in the UK will have a new Prime Minister by Friday or even perhaps by teatime today, then on Friday we have an MP giving a financial statement to the country and the World. It could be Jeremy Hunt who is slated to give that statement as he is currently the Chancellor of the Exchequer, or it could be another new Chancellor we live in interesting times. Oh and of course at the end of the week the clocks “FALL” back one hour (ahh that’s why the American call autumn fall or is it because the leaves fall off the trees I will ask google) so this time next week it will be dark by 4PM. I wonder if Liz Truss wishes the clocks could “fall back” two plus months. Ahhh bless her whilst Politicians are their own worst enemy, I do feel kind of sorry for her. We all in our careers fail on occasions, some more than others and we can bury our failures (surgeons do that all the time 😊) her failure is in public and broadcast throughout The World, a cottage industry has grown up over her failure and is published daily via What’s app messages, I have seen many of them some are cruel but funny, if you haven’t seen them let me know I will send you a selection of the very best I have received and I have received a lot of Liz Truss video clips, one of the funniest is Liz at Mickey D’s choosing her menu.

As in all BBC news broadcasts, they try to find some good news to and so let me see what I can dig up, oh yes look who has been dug up for a season of new Dr Who programs David Tennant returns to Doctor Who after 10 years as Jodie Whittaker regenerates

Finally wishing you all a wonderful Diwali full of light and fireworks.

That’s it, you are up to date from a David point of view

MAURITIUS

Stephane, Karl and the team at Hello Islands DMC Mauritius share some wonderful news with us Mauritius has received three leading destination awards at 2022 World Travel Awards for Indian Ocean Region. The annual awards recognise and honour the winners in each category voted as being the best in their travel, tourism and hospitality businesses, since the WTA are regarded as the most prestigious awards of the global tourism industry. The winners, based on votes cast by travel industry professionals and the public, were announced at a prestigious gala dinner held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya on 15 October. The lush forests, wild waterfalls, unique wildlife, rugged mountains and palm-fringed white beaches, together with its world-class luxurious resorts, romantic settings and a focus on sustainable tourism, enabled Mauritius to lift the titles of: ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination’; ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Wedding Destination’; and, for the first time, ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination’.
