Dateline Monday 17th June 2024
Good morning Happy Monday, FLAMING JUNE seems to have flamed out sadly, it’s been a bit warm, a lot cold, a bit dry and a lot wet, soon it will be the longest day yikkkeeessss Saturday was a wash out I know as I walked to Synagogue in the light rain and home from synagogue in the pouring rain, got soaked. Sunday as I write this at 11AM on Sunday morning the sun is out and its breezy if the sun stays out then that’s me out of the office and going somewhere I might even get my shorts out of winter storage and onto my summer shelves. Its now 9.40PM the sun has set it is chilly, I did go out to Kings Road but I didn’t wear shorts. I went to collect something I had ordered the product was at the shop but they messed up the order, so they are going to redo it and deliver it to me. I couldn’t wait till the good weather arrived to collect it, apparently the weather is going to be a bit better this week. At 9AM this morning its looking good
This week is the Islamic festival of Eid ul-Adha which means the Festival of Sacrifice according to google it is one of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar. The festival remembers the prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son Issac when God ordered him to. The devil tempted Ibrahim by saying he should disobey G-d and spare his son. As Ibrahim was about to kill his son, G-d stopped him and gave him a lamb to sacrifice instead. In some countries, Muslims sacrifice a sheep or goat the meat is shared equally between family, friends and the poor. Eid usually starts with Muslims going to the Mosque for prayers. They dress in their best clothes and thank G-d for all the blessings they have received. It is a time when they visit family and friends. Muslims will also give money to charity so that poor people can celebrate too. Eid ul-Adha is a public holiday in Muslim countries. This year, Eid ul-Adha began last night Sunday 16th June and will end on the evening of Thursday 20th June.
If you are celebrating Eid ul Adha may I take this opportunity to wish you, your family and friend Eid Mubarak
It’s soap box time
Today is the 255TH day of the war in Gaza and the 255th day that Israeli babies, toddles, children, teens, women, men and seniors have been held hostage in the Hamas terror tunnels in Gaza. Netanyahu has not had much success bringing the hostages home since the 100 hostages were set free earlier this year. Israel have agreed to a ceasefire Hamas have said no Israel has agreed a non-fire corridor for humanitarian aid into Gaza but not Rafah, lets see how much of the aid gets through to the citizens of Gaza without being stolen by Hamas for their cohort.
GREAT to see the G7 supporting Ukraine and letting them enjoy the interest from the frozen Russian funds held by European government central banks also good to learn that the USA has signed a 10 year armament agreement with Ukraine. A peace conference for Ukraine was held in Switzerland over the weekend something like 140 countries agreed there must be a peaceful solution China, Russia and South Africa were not there, I think South Africa were not there just to make a point, punching way above their weight wanting to run with the big bad communist boys and failing big time.
The General Election brainwashing season is well into action, three weeks gone three weeks to go and it seems the new Reform Party according to the polls is going to stuff things up big time a bit like they did when it came to Brexit when there were called UKIP, the blue vote will be split and the red vote will win. If you think things are bad now…….. what was the Blair song? “things can only get better” and look what happened they spent all the money and we went to war in Afghanistan.
Off the soap box now
The Euros are well under way so the “thugs on tour” group is on the move, first off was Estonian thugs against the British hooligans (a grade below thugs) then there was the nutter with the axe in Hamburg oh and he is a bit unwell now having been shot several times by the German Police. Well done England beating Serbia 1- 0 it’s a win but we need more goals
That dear reader that is about it from a David point of view for this week at least.
