DATELINE MONDAY 17TH JANUARY 2022

Good morning, cold, frosty but crystal clear Alpine like greetings on this chilling January Monday morning, I hope you are well.

Today for the first time in a week or so Novak Djokovic is not headline news, clearly no one is above the law in Australia, the analogy of Novak being a tennis machine is one I can understand after all Lewis Hamilton would not drive his 220 mph Formula One racing car to Tesco’s to fill it up with petrol however rules are rules

Did you see the news footage of the underwater volcano exploding near Tonga it was a fascinating watch, luckily no one seems to have been injured or killed although news reports have stated a woman is missing. The underwater explosion that was caught on camera by a satellite was another clear demonstration of the awesome power of Mother Nature.

More COVID common sense is being demonstrated this time from the French authorities who have confirmed the country has lifted restrictions for travellers from the UK from last Friday

French government minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said the rules, introduced in December, are relaxed for vaccinated travellers. Proof of a negative coronavirus test taken less than 24 hours before departure will now be required. However earlier last week Italy said it was extending its restrictions in an attempt to stem the spread of the Omicron variant. Come on Italy and other destinations “get a grip” as Sir Kier would say COVID is here we have to live with it and just simply get on with our lives, ENOUGH!!!

MM and Company news update

Greece

Construction works began in late 2020 across different areas of the operating hotel however due to the extensive volume of works and in order to ensure the safety of associates and guests, the Hilton Athens hotel will cease operations on January 31st 2022.
