Dateline Monday 10th July 2023

Good morning, happy Monday I hope you are fit and well.

If you are on holiday I hope you are having a great time but why are you reading this “work” e mail? If you are planning to go on holiday soon I wish you a wonderful time with hopefully awesome weather unlike we are having at the moment. So far this month we have had one hot day, that was Friday and as I always say we pay for the one hot day with several luke warm “och and vey” weather days. Whilst I am writing this Monday morning e mail to you I am wearing my lightweight purple hoodie, fyi I look fetching in it😊

Today Wimbledon starts its second week and no Brits are left in the tournament, hoo humm, Cricket is getting better England has won the third test against the Aussies.

Some good news apparently, it was World Chocolate Day on Friday 7th July it’s an annual celebration of chocolate, occurring globally, which some suggest to be the anniversary of the introduction of chocolate to Europe in 1550. The observance of World Chocolate Day dates back to 2009. Ha! for me it’s been world chocolate day every day that’s how I got to the size I am. Charlie Chaplin once said

“a day without laughter is a day wasted” as far as I am concerned a day without chocolate (usually M&Ms) is a day lost to Slimming World. As a change from M&MS I have discovered a new Swiss chocolate shop in Regents Street called LADERACH the chocolate they sell is awesome oh and expensive, when I am feeling rich which to be honest is not very often these days, mortgage rate, inflation, energy prices, petrol prices ☹ I splash the cash I go into town to buy some of their chocolate. I try and usually fail to make it last a lot longer than it should, I normally have an abundance of will power but when it comes to Laderach chocolate, I fail big time.

President Joe Biden is due to be in the UK today, according to Google Air Force One will land at Stanstead Airport. As I wrote this line five Chinook helicopters flew over my house in London NW6 all well-spaced apart, so I only managed to catch three on one photo, see my Instagram and Facebook posts. I guess The President must be here. The Helios were on their way Winfield House in Regents Park that is where the USA Ambassador lives and where the President of the USA stays when he is in town. The UK security forces have turned a section of Regents Park into a fortress, pics on my Instagram page.

It’s the summer so the news is rather slow, I guess that is a good thing.

And that’s it, you are up to date from a David point of view.

MM and Company news update

Japan

James and the crew at The J Team DMC Japan have told us that The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka on the island of Kyushu in Southern Japan has just opened.

The property occupies the nine top floors of a 111-meter, 25-storey glass tower The hotel is in Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City, the tallest complex in the city’s core commercial district of Tokyo.

The hotel’s interior design and art take inspiration from Fukuoka’s traditional yarn-dyed silk and kimono weaving craft, called “Hakata-ori”. Throughout the hotel, folding screens, sculptures, paintings, and textiles woven by local artisans are intermingled into the overall design. From the hotel, great views overlooking the Genkai Sea and surrounding hills form a backdrop that create a great sense of place.

Fukuoka Skyline rooms offer sweeping views of the city, while Park View rooms overlook the greenery of Ohori Park. From Bay View rooms, guests will be treated to views of Hakata Bay and beyond.
