DATELINE MONDAY 27TH JUNE 2016

Happy Monday Morning, as we start our first week on the long journey back into the dark ages of isolation you can guess where my sentiments lay last Thursday. Friday was not a good day but bearing in mind the serenity prayer (happy to share that one with you) there is not much I can do about it, so I will just have to live the decision together with the 16,141,241 people that voted to remain in the EU. Clearly I will no longer speak to the17,410,742 people that voted to leave the EU. It seems that 17 million people and change forgot that we live in a community of likeminded people. Community, togetherness is what it’s all about, being an island in the North Sea cut off from everybody else is not in my opinion a very intelligent place to be. Well it is what it is, we will just have to get on with it. Seems that the Labour Party is going through serious turmoil since Thursday’s result. We will lose an excellent Prime Minister and what / who will we get in his place goodness knows, guess we will have to wait till October. We will be unchartered territory nothing has changed YET except the Pound has got weaker and the stock market has lost value.

And to add insult to injury it is cold and raining today.

Mauritius

Leyla and Hannah’s twitter and witter bit of the Monday morning e mail

Hannah who is almost twelve has got boy trouble, if you happen to meet Hannah on the street please don’t tell her I told you this. Apparently there is a boy at school that she likes, I understand his name is Oscar. Anyway she did a silly thing she told her close girl friends who then thought well let’s check out if Oscar likes Hannah. So her friends told an almost twelve year old boy that an almost twelve year old girl like him, his obvious reaction was ohh yuk, a girl likes me, I like football, he then went off and told his mates, it got around the class that Hannah likes Oscar, she came home very upset went to her room and no form of coaxing would get her out of her room, not even the waft of chocolate, crisps and cookies. She put herself to bed and wouldn’t even allow me to come in and kiss her goodnight. So she was Hurt Hannah for a few days, Hannah would not tell me what the problem was, she finally came clean Sunday afternoon, we were spending some quality Daddy and Daughter time together whilst Leyla was out shopping for clothes. Hannah said “Daddy do you want to know why I have been so miserable for the last few days?” of course I said yes and she told me the whole story.

Naturally I went over to Oscar’s house and beat the living daylights out of him as any Dad would do correct? I was almost as tall as he was wow they make kids tall these days. Leyla instantaneously became the big protective sister, spent quite a lot of time with Hannah in her bedroom, it took Hannah two almost three days to fully recover, by the weekend, she was her beautiful funny smiling self again.
