Dateline Monday 4th September 2023

Welcome back to the last quarter of 2023 and the beginning of a new season in the conference and incentive world.

I hope you are well and that you had a great summer. Were you too hot in Europe or too cold and wet in the UK? Either way I hope it was fun.

Summer seems to have finally arrived this week in the UK the weekend was nice, and it seems this whole week the weather will be dry, sunny and warm, just two month too late.

The Monday morning e mail took August off so what did you miss, let’s have a quick August run down

Forest fires all over Europe I hope you managed to avoid them, scorching temperatures in Europe, the summer went AWOL in the UK, dreadful weather here, the World said farewell and good riddance to the thug for hire Yevgeny Prigozhin. The England Women’s football team, The Lionesses did very well and came second in the World Cup in Australia, Oppenheimer and Mission Impossible took the box office by storm so did Barbie, Lava flows from Fagradalsfjall volcano in Iceland, about 40km (25 miles) from the capital Reykjavik, spectacular images on line. Interest rates got hiked again in the UK.

Prick Putin still hasn’t won the war he started against Ukraine which he said would be over in less than a week. Trump got arrested yet again I believe he is standing trial is at least four state with a total on over 90 charges against him. A gunman killed three black people in a racially motivated attack then killed himself in Jacksonville. Horrific fires in Hawaii. London Mayor “I want to force cars out of London” Khan extended the ULEZ zone far and wide stretching to the far outskirts of our amazing Capital City not just in central London it now includes all of greater London, £12.50 a pop if your vehicle does not comply. Nadine Dorries finally resigns, two months after she said her resignation from the house of commons would be immediate. Monster nurse jailed for life not going to put her name in writing, so now we the tax payer has to take care of her for the rest of her life whilst she cared for no one, that cant be right, radical thought here, I am sure you can fill in the missing two words, a clue is DP.

Finally, it’s Labor Day in the USA today, just so you know Labor Day became a national holiday in 1894 when President Grover Cleveland signed a law passed by Congress designating the first Monday in September a holiday for workers. So let me take this opportunity to wish Clem and the team at C Florida Hospitality and Beth and the team at Details NYC a very happy Labor day, hope you guys have a great Monday free from work and labor. Strange they call today Labor Day when no Labor is required.

And that’s it, you are up to date from a David point of view.

MM and Company news update

Alexandra, Andreas and the team at DELTA DMC Amsterdam told us that JetBlue has expanded its presence to a third transatlantic destination with new, nonstop service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) Service from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Amsterdam will launch on September 20. The daily service, which began on August 29, flight No. 2288 took-off from JFK at 10 p.m. local time and arrived into Amsterdam at 11.35 a.m. the next day. The return flight, flight No. 2289, left Amsterdam at 1.35 p.m. local time and landed at JFK at 4.20 p.m. local time. Flights operate daily on JetBlue’s Airbus A321 Long Range (LR) aircraft with 24 redesigned Mint Suite seats, 114 core seats, I guess that is the new word for Economy.
