Dateline Monday 4th November 2024
Good morning, it’s me on your screen so it must be Monday Morning once again, wishing you a very Happy Monday and an awesome week ahead. What is going on with the UK weather it’s been warmish and its November so for me to say warm and November in the same sentence then something is going on. The sun has been missing, rain has by and large been missing it’s just been dull I guess I can cope with dull for a little while longer
Talking of the weather OMG Valencia in Spain, once again Mother Nature in all its power, clearly a tragedy for over 200 people that have lost their lives and for the families of those people but to blame the King and Queen of Spain for the effects of the weather is wrong, they came to show their support, and they got attacked and abused. The Government as with most Governments was slow to realise he scale of the tragedy and the challenge, it took them three days to send a few troops to help now thy have sent tens of thousands of them to help with more rain on the way. I could never imagine that type of this happening in our country the closest thing would have been The awful tragic Aberfan disaster in October 1966 when a huge mountain of coal slurry moved and a school was buried under hundreds of tuns of coal waste 116 children and 28 adults lost their lives, The Queen visited the village no one blamed her she came to pay her respects. I guess things were different then.
Fireworks night tomorrow although the bangs and sparkles have been going on all weekend. A question what happens after Guy Fawkes night? The London Christmas Lights go on in Oxford Street then on Regents Street the next day and the countdown starts to the gib day six weeks away yikkkeeessssss.
Not too sure what will be on the News next week. we have had Robbing Rachel Reeves the first female Chancellor of the Exchequer raise £40 BILLION in additional taxes that most of us will somehow pay in higher prices as the tax is passed on down the line, and by this time next week the USA Presidential Election winner will have been announced, well that is the plan so what will be on the front pages next week answers on a post card please to the usual address
Today is ONE YEAR and 35 days that Israeli babies, toddlers, children, teens, women, men, seniors and other nationalities have been held hostage in the Hamas terror tunnels in Gaza.
World Travel Market is on at ExCel this week, Tuesday to Thursday inclusive, I will be going on Tuesday, will you be going to WTM? Whilst I know it is not really “our thing” from our awesome division of the Travel Industry however I have always found it quite useful to have a schmooze around, I almost always bump into some of our industry people, some of the DMCs we work with and recommend will be there promoting the FIT part of their organisation.
That is about it from a David point of view for this week at least.
MM and Company news update
Japan
James and the crew at The J Team DMC Japan have told us that today in a bank holiday in Japan it is Culture Day (文化の日, Bunka no Hi) this is a public holiday in Japan held annually in November to promote culture, the arts, and academic endeavor. Festivities typically include art exhibitions, parades, and award ceremonies for distinguished artists and scholars. Such a wonderful Japanese thing the country of Japan is Culture personified, almost everything about Japan is about culture
