As meeting and incentive planners, corporate managers, and Destination Management Companies we all have to be leaders in many ways to many people weather it is our staff, suppliers, sales team and even mentoring those new to the industry. To some it comes naturally, while others have to hone their skills over the years. It takes many things to be a great leader. There are many seminars one can take and books one can read on the subject. But, I recently came across a short, but powerful paragraph on the "Buddhist Philosophy on Leadership" and wanted to share it with all of you.

Construction on Bowlmor Times Square began earlier this month, and in October, Strike expects to unveil a multilevel venue divided into seven sections styled after key areas of the city, including Chinatown, Central Park, the subway system, and TriBeCa CMS Architecture & Design, the firm that created the look of TriBeCa's Dylan Prime and Charlie Palmer Steak in Las Vegas, is handling the design. Among the plans for the interior are a front desk inspired by Times Square in the 1960s, a concierge and shoe-shining service, a lounge with Warhol-inspired artwork, and a stairway modeled after the Brooklyn Bridge. The owners even hit the Tavern on the Green auction in January to pick up items for a Central Park-themed area. A total of 50 bowling lanes will be divvied into separate sections, allowing each area to be available for private rental. Two event spaces, the 1,000-square-foot TriBeCa Loft and the 2,500-square-foot SoHo Loft, will be able to be combined. Strike Holdings has yet to announce which chef will create the menu, but in the works are three bars (one with a wood-burning oven for pizzas) and a restaurant with tiered seating. | | FANTASTIC TEAM BUILDING FOR FEMALE GROUPS AND SPOUSE PROGRAMS

For a teambuilding approach, groups can design and market a product. | | SOUTH STREET SEAPORT MUSEUM: HISTORIC DOWNTOWN SITE OPENS FIFTH FLOOR FOR EVENT SPACE GA | | Encompassing 12 square blocks in the small neighborhood between the financial district and the East River, the South Street Seaport Museum opened in 1967. Earlier this year the historic site made available its Schermerhorn Galleries, a series of interconnected rooms on its fifth floor. Adding to the museum's existing 30,000 square feet of exhibition, education, and event space, this section can be rented for daytime functions as well as evening gatherings Named for Peter Schermerhorn, the 19th-century merchant who built the row of brick structures on Fulton Street that now house the museum, the galleries sport original details such hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, ceiling beams, and even graffiti. Although ceiling heights range from eight to 25 feet, each of the three front spaces measures about 1,000 square feet and seats 80 or holds as many as 250 for receptions.
