Change in Visa rules for US and UK citizens
India as recently tightened its rules for long-term tourist visas. As per the rule tourists on five or 10-year visas will have to leave the country every six months, and would have to wait for two months before they can reenter India.
Tourists who wish to return within this two-month period can apply for special permission through any Indian High Commission or Consulate. Applicants should clearly state their purpose of travel. There are no standard guidelines for approving these applications but they will only be approved in emergent situations like a death or illness in the family or the need to travel through to return within tow months will be required to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration office (FPRO) within fourteen days of arriving in India. |
