Awesome Istanbul revisited December 2011 by David J Marks

Istanbul - TurkeyEvery time I go back to Istanbul (I guess this was my 87th trip) and my last trip was in August this year something new has opened. This time the new Divan Hotel in Taksim has opened, the old Divan Hotel was knocked down and a new and very much improved hotel has opened on the same site. The totally refurbished Pera Palace Hotel also has opened, the building was in a state of disrepair it was closed and has been reborn as a magnificent addition to the hotel inventory of Istanbul.

Funky Frankfurt (yes, it's funky) November 2011 by David J Marks

Frankfurt - GermanyIn November, I was in Frankfurt with Eva and Silke from the Germanyinsight Frankfurt office to take a look to see what Frankfurt and its close by cities has to offer and it has a lot to offer. Frankfurt is a small city only 625,000 people live there the traffic is light and manageable. My objective was to see the city but I did have a look at a couple of hotels, I stayed in the five star Rocco Forte Villa Kennedy Hotel very nice indeed, sadly did not get to enjoy the awesome spa in the hotel. I also took a good look at the new Jumeirah Frankfurt hotel, it is lovely, brand spanking new with a whole bunch of new ideas of how to work with the conference and incentive market place. The lifts are cool instead of calling a lift to go up or down you tell the touch pad by the lift which floor you want to go to, the touch pad tells you which lift will arrive you step in the doors close, you do not have to press any buttons as the lift knows here you want to go, how cool is that? I took some terrific pictures of Frankfurt and the hotels if you want to see any of them give me a call.

Mysterious Moscow revealed November 2011 by David J Marks

MoscowMy visit to Moscow with Valeria Veronika and the team at Russian Event was picture perfect first it was cold second it snowed a better script one could not have written. I travelled on Thursday morning courtesy of the lovely Kathy from All About Flights on BMI International from Heathrow the flight was 3 hours and forty minutes. We took off at 9.30AM and landed Russian time at 5.30 PM, the Russians decided not to change the clocks as we did (well at least the Russian President decided not to change to winter time) so the UK is now four hours behind Russia.
